Nextonic Solutions is seeking a LIMS Support Specialist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Standardized Organoid Model Center in Frederick, MD. The Standardized Organoid Model Center is an NIH-funded initiative dedicated to advancing organoid research through the development of validated, reproducible, and well-characterized organoid models. The center brings together interdisciplinary teams of researchers to establish standardized protocols, develop quality control measures, and create resources that will benefit the broader organoid research community.
Overview
The LIMS Support Specialist will manage and maintain the Laboratory Information Management System that serves as the backbone for data tracking, sample management, and workflow coordination across the SOM Center. This position is crucial for ensuring data integrity, traceability, and compliance with NIH standards for data management and sharing.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the LIMS platform, including user account management, system configuration, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- They will work closely with laboratory personnel to design and implement workflows that capture experimental metadata, track sample processing, and ensure data quality throughout the research pipeline.
- The role involves training laboratory staff on LIMS usage, developing standard operating procedures for data entry and retrieval, and coordinating with IT support for system updates and security compliance.
- Regular backup procedures, data validation checks, and integration with other laboratory systems will be key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must have demonstrated experience working with LIMS systems in biotech companies or biological research laboratories.
- Strong technical skills including database management, basic programming or scripting abilities, and familiarity with laboratory workflows are essential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and support laboratory personnel are required.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for biological research data is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific LIMS platforms commonly used in academic research settings is preferred.
- Previous work in organoid research or tissue engineering laboratories will be considered an asset.
